There are indications that the current mill is older than 1823 and originates from the region as a polder mill. The mill was in operation with wind power until 1947. The mill was provisionally restored as a stationary monument in 1965. In 1972-1973, the mill was thoroughly restored as a gristmill, after becoming the property of the Utrecht Windmills Foundation in 1971. The mill's activities are financially and morally supported by the Wilnisser Veenmolen Foundation.
