Enjoy the view of the sea from the Mondrian bench. The bench is painted in the colours typical of Piet Mondrian (1872-1944): the primary colours red, yellow and blue and the non-colours white, black and grey.
Sitting on the bench is Nehalennia. On her lap she has a bowl of apples and at her feet sits a dog. Nehalennia is a patron goddess honoured by sailors and traders on the North Sea in 2nd and 3rd centuries. Remains of a temple of Nehellania were found near Domburg in 1647.
The bench was designed by Guido Metsers in 1989.
