Originally, the mill drained the Nieuw Groenendijk polder. Until 1959, the mill was used for drainage. After that, a motor was installed outside the mill to drive the screw pump. In the 1960s, several polders were merged to form the new Groenendijk polder, for which a new water board was established.
After its purchase by the Rijnlandse Molenstichting in 1966, the mill was thoroughly restored. Today, it is used as a training mill for members of the Guild of Volunteer Millers who are in training.
