Located between Zuidzande and Cadzand, the Strijdersgatpolder is a 223-hectare polder with a long history. Created by re-diking in the 15th century, after which floods formed the Strijdersgat. The polder is a symbol of the struggle against water.
In the middle of this area lies nature reserve De Knokkert, also known as the Forest of Erasmus. Here you will find a mix of deciduous forests, hawthorn hedges and open meadows, perfect for a quiet walk or cycle route. With its historical background and natural charm, the Strijdersgatpolder is a special place in Zeeland Flanders.
