This courtyard is located in the heart of Leiden. It has been around since 1492 and even has its own chapel. Both the courtyard and the chapel were restored in the second half of the seventeenth century.
The courtyard is named after Saint Anne and was once home to 13 nuns. Some of the thirteen houses have been merged. Nine houses remain, which are still inhabited by single women.
The courtyard has the status of a national monument.
