Shinkichi Tajiri knots - Baarlo

N 51.331373 / E 6.108715

The American-Dutch artist Shinkichi Tajiri, after creating works of art which were mostly misunderstood, created different kinds of knots for years. He himself said about this: "I want people to be able to give meaning to my works of art themselves. With my 'knots' I want to make a clear statement, ensure immediate communication between work and viewer". Baarlo is also called the knots village because Tajiri lived here until his death and filled the streetscape with various knots of cast iron. This knot over the Vergelt, as a kind of gateway to the village, is one of a total of seven knots in and around Baarlo.
