Sand Sculpture Festivity - Garderen

In Garderen you will find the Sand Sculpture Festival every year, from mid-April to late October. Every year has a different theme. In 2016 that was the world of Rien Poortvliet. Rien Poortvliet saw himself as a graphic storyteller. His drawings for the most part tell the story, at most in combination with a small title or inscription. And ... there is always something to discover or enjoy, something to be amazed by or wonder about. The general public loved and still love the drawings of Poortvliet, in which you immediately see his love for nature. Poortvliet knows how to put a deer, a wild boar or a fox in action. Poortvliet was also able to convey the special atmosphere of the countryside of yesteryear to the canvas like no other. And then of course there were the gnomes!
