This nameless, enclosed post mill was built around 1684 and is the oldest working mill on the island of Tholen. It stands on a small mound of about two metres on the northwest edge of the village.
Originally, this was a compulsory mill, where local farmers were required to have their grain milled. An annual ground rent of 180 guilders was paid to the local lord. This was halved in 1857 and fully bought out in 1966 when the mill was sold. From 1881 to 1966, three generations of the Kodde miller family operated the mill, until the municipality took over the lease.
After major restorations in 1966 and 2006–2007, the miller now gets the sails turning again on a regular basis. From the flower borders around the mill you get a lovely view of St Annaland and the marina.
