At the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein lies the Basilica of Our Lady Star of the Sea. A defining Romanesque-style church with robust walls and small windows. also an authentic church: you experience the space much like people did in the 12th century. The basilica is part of 'The Largest Museum of the Netherlands', an initiative of Museum Catharijneconvent.
After publishing a book about church interiors, the idea arose to make churches in the Netherlands better known and more accessible to the public. Thirteen beautiful monuments of various denominations together form the Largest Museum of the Netherlands. They are all religiously active churches that thus received a kind of ‘Michelin star’.
