Around 1400, the Oostpoort was built as part of Delft’s defensive structures. This gate, consisting of a land and water section, is the only remaining city gate of the original eight the city once had. With its two slender towers and picturesque location by the water, the Oostpoort is a beloved subject for photographers and painters. It is a beautiful example of medieval architecture and a silent witness to Delft’s rich past.
