Nature reserve Imstenraderbos - Heerlen
Imstenraderbos nature reserve is South Limburg in miniature. You will discover beautiful views in the hilly landscape and enjoy ancient woodland with an enchanting charm. No wonder bats and owls feel completely at home here. In particular, the tawny owl and long-eared owl have found their home here. You might also come across a badger sett.
In several places in the forest there are deep channels, called gullies, which were created by the water that flowed centuries ago from plateaus to lower valleys. The alternation of forest, valley, slopes, hills, standard orchards, landscape elements, thickets and shearwoods puts you in a quiet, special world. All you hear is the birdsong.
