Museum Romeins Halder, located in the hamlet of Halder on the Haanwijk Estate near Sint Michielsgestel, takes you back to Roman times in the Dommel Valley. This small but special museum is full of discoveries: pottery, coins, jewellery, glassware and tools that have been buried for centuries.
One of the highlights is a real Roman pottery kiln, found in 1973 along with remains of wells and a cremation grave. With the reconstructions you get a clear idea of how people lived, worked and made things here back then.
The museum is run by passionate volunteers from the Stichting Oudheidkundig Museum. Their mission is simple: to keep the story of the Romans in this area alive and to keep exploring it further.
The museum is open every Tuesday and Sunday. Groups are also welcome by appointment. For kids there is a scavenger hunt, an audio tour and plenty to discover and do to bring the past to life.
