In the cultural museum of Egmond, you can learn more about the history of the three Egmond towns: Egmond aan Zee, Egmond aan den Hoef and Egmond-Binnen. All three Egmond towns have their own history.
The main theme of the museum is “Life by the dunes and the sea”. Here, the bell of the church that disappeared into the sea still rings, along with half the village. The old rowing lifeboat, the fisherman's cottage with its junk shed and the stained-glass windows with their unusual scenes are also popular attractions.
There is also a collection of paintings to admire. The icing on the cake is the painting “Egmondse Vissersvrouwen” (Egmond Fisherwomen), a painting of three fisherwomen in traditional costume from 1925 by artist Roeland Koning. Thanks to various local fundraising campaigns, the museum has been able to add this work of art to its collection. There is a fun museum quiz for children and young people.
