This charming museum sits right along the historical route of the former Westlandsche Stoomtramweg Maatschappij (WSM) and is housed in the original tram station from 1912. The building still breathes the atmosphere of the past, with a beautifully preserved Jugendstil waiting room.
Inside, you’ll discover the rich history of the region. Learn about transport over the centuries, from horse-drawn barges to steam trams, and explore stories of daily life in Schipluiden and its surroundings. A highlight is the exhibition on Keenenburg Castle, once the powerful stronghold of the lords of Schipluiden. Through archaeological finds and a virtual tour, you’ll get a unique look at this vanished castle, which once stood within walking distance of the museum.
Museum Het Tramstation is small, but surprisingly enjoyable for all ages. Entry is free, and there’s a donation box for voluntary contributions.
