The museum is located in a former grocer’s building from the 16th century, with an original shop that’s still in use. You can buy traditional sweets and step into daily village life as it was in the early 1900s.
Behind the shop lies the living area, where you walk through the living room, kitchen and bedrooms as if the residents might return at any moment. In the attic, you’ll find tools used by local farmers and gardeners, and in the cellar you’ll learn how butter and cheese were once made on the farm.
Besides the house, the museum also includes a warehouse, a retired gentleman’s home and the former Tavenu ballroom. Every corner tells something about life in Maasland more than a century ago. A unique experience that adds culture, nostalgia and a touch of wonder to your bike ride.
