Museum Buren en Oranje - Buren

N 51.9114029 / E 5.3338365

Why this museum? Although in Buren you'll find a Royal Orphanage, corn mill ´The Prince of Orange´ and hotel-restaurant ´The Prince´, in Buren hardly anything of its history could be traced. It was here that Prince William of Orange married his first bride, the wealthy Anna van Buren-Egmond, in 1551. Both were only eighteen years old. This first Orange marriage in the Netherlands, made Countess Anna a princess and the prince became the richest nobleman of our Low Countries. Anna van Buren is not only the first, but also the only Dutch bride of our reigning House of Orange.
