Monument Mount Stirling - Batenburg

N 51.820983595003 / E 5.6295713011426

On 21 September 1944, an English Stirling, which had just completed a successful supply flight near Oosterbeek, was shot down by a German fighter. As a miracle, the crew survived the incident in which the plane had landed in De Maas.

In 2003, part of the landing gear was found across the river Maas and on 21 September 2004 it was presented as a monument to the residents of Batenburg.
