Built around 1875–76 by the De Visscher milling family, De Visscher was used as a shelter in WWII. In 1944, it was severely damaged by British artillery, tragically killing a mother and her six-year-old daughter.
Restored shortly after liberation, it continued operating until 1961, later fell into neglect, but since the 1997 founding of Stichting Akkermolens Goirle it is maintained and occasionally grinds again with volunteers
