Mill De Zoeker - Zaandam / Zaanse Schans
Mill De Zoeker was probably built as an oil mill in the early 17th century on the Sluissloot. The mill is an octagonal upper stage. After four years of disuse, a new form of exploitation was found for this special mill in 1958, which went down in history as the 'Olieslagerscontract 1958'. A number of companies that had declared themselves willing to put the oil mill into permanent operation and to keep it that way participated in the 'Oil Mill Contract 1958'.
In the Zaan region as a whole, no less than 204 oil mills existed and with this, they took second place among the industrial mills. First place was taken by the 367 sawmills.
