Mill De Korenbloem in Scherpenisse is a round stone tower mill from 1872 that was built to grind grain, just like most grain mills in Zeeland at that time. This mill is capable of milling, which means that technically it can still grind when it turns. Tower mills like this stood on elevations to catch sufficient wind, especially in villages surrounded by houses and trees.
Historically De Korenbloem functioned as a local grain mill, essential for grinding grain. Nowadays it mills mainly to give visitors a good impression of how this type of mills work. Admire it from the outside or come inside to have a look on a special opening day or by appointment.
