The Meppeler Tower dates back to the 16th century and is an iconic building in Meppel. Originally, the tower was part of a church, but after the church was demolished, the tower now stands on its own. The design is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture, with elegant brickwork and an octagonal superstructure.
The 45-metre-high tower has always been an attraction for Meppel. In the past, it attracted traders and craftsmen, who moved to Meppel from far and wide to live and work here.
The tower offers a magnificent view of the town and the surrounding area. You can climb the tower and enjoy the panoramic view. Thursdays are particularly enjoyable here, as the weekly market takes place under the tower.
