The Loosdrecht lakes are a popular water sports area. That doesn't have to stop nature lovers from coming, because part of the lakes is protected nature reserve and not accessible to motorised boats. You can cycle around the Loosdrechtse Plassen, but if you get off the bike and hire a canoe or rowing boat, you can also enjoy the experience from the water. Because there is plenty of water here.

Water mint grows here, proof that the water is very clean. Part of the land consists of quaking moorland on which orchids, wire nails and the great rattler grow. You may hear the moustache or see a purple heron fly by. And in summer at least, you can enjoy the carpets of water lilies and yellow plumose.
