From the Dutch Springendal, cycle towards Hezingen and quietly cross the border. In the first German village, Hesingen, lies the entrance to the nature area around the Lönsberg. On top of this 87-meter hill stands a metal lookout tower with a bright green top and a red ball as a landmark. From the platform, you’ll overlook a varied landscape of forests, farmland and ridges.
The tower is located in the border area between Springendal and the German Naturpark Hohe Mark, which here coincides with the TERRA.vita UNESCO Global Geopark. The area is quiet, spacious and gently sloping. Unpaved trails run through deciduous forests, grasslands and cultivated fields. Along the way, information panels explain the geological layers in the ground and the formation of the landscape.
Along the route, you'll see small stream valleys, quarries, wooded banks and characteristic farms. The infrastructure is simple, the routes are clearly marked and the landscape remains easy to follow, even on lesser-known paths.
