Along the coast of Westhoofd stands the Lighthouse of Ouddorp, or Lighthouse Westhoofd. Cultural-historically, it is a reminder of its predecessor destroyed in World War II. The lighthouse is an essential element within Dutch coastal lighting and an exceptional one as it is the only one added after the war.
The lighthouse is an extraordinary piece of craftsmanship from the hands of architect G.W. Friedhoff, but also within architecture. Its powerful, robust design and balanced proportions are striking. As such, the tower radiates 'vigilance and pride', symbolising the freedom regained after World War II.
The landscape surrounding the lighthouse also contributes to its value. Located in the dunes, it is a historical landmark that evokes admiration.
