Landhotel De Hoofdige Boer - Almen

N 52.1573163 / E 6.3027719

Landhotel De Hoofdige Boer in picturesque Almen has a long history. The building dates back to before 1839. All those years, it has been a place to sleep, eat and drink. Not surprisingly, hospitality is a high priority here!

After several name changes, since 1965 the hotel has borne the name 'De Hoofdige Boer', named after a poem from the most famous poem by Dutch romantic poet A.C.W. Staring (1767-1840). It is about a stubborn farmer from Zutphen who refuses to use the new bridge built so that villagers could walk to church more easily. He keeps going through the ditch, just like his ancestors.

The beautiful tea garden is the place to take a break during your bike ride. Enjoy a good cup of coffee and cake, delicious lunch or a sophisticated dinner on the back terrace.

Although the hotel is in the middle of the village, you can still see plenty of greenery around you. The comfortable hotel rooms offer a nice place for a weekend in the Achterhoek. Take your bicycle with you or rent one at the hotel and experience one of the packages, for example the cycling package: three completely arranged days with the most beautiful cycle routes. Landhotel De Hoofdige Boer is therefore an excellent starting point for your cycle route!
