De Bockhof is also known as Obbendorf or Huis Haasdal. It is located in the hamlet of Groot Haasdal, near Schimmert. The building consists of a manor house and a tenant farm and is recognised as a listed monument. The oldest part is the square tower from 1677. You can recognise the tower by its tent roof, a small dome and a spire in the shape of a sliced onion. On top of the onion is an 18th-century weather vane with the family crest of the Von Bock family. This noble family from Aachen lived here for a long time. The house was also once inhabited by knights.
Until 1840 the farm belonged to the former Castle De Bockenhof. The building is partly made of marlstone, with decorative plasterwork on the front façades. In 1959 and 2008 the complex was restored and turned into a characteristic holiday home.
