Hertog Jan Brewery - Arcen

The Hertog Jan Brewery is still located at the same place where four befriended brewers started it in 1915. They wanted to crown their passion for beer with a brewery of their own. They decided to join forces and founded Steam Beer Brewery De Vriendschap. Contrary to the custom of the time, they brewed their beer 'bottom-fermenting'. The beer soon became popular and was purchased throughout the Netherlands.

During the Second World War the brewery was badly damaged. Fortunately, the malt silos, in which the malt for Hertog Jan speciality beers is still stored, were spared. The building has been restored, although the bullet holes from that period are still visible.

If you come closer to the brewery today, you can smell the characteristic smell of malt. Proof that Hertog Jan beer is still brewed in the brewery. Discover the passion with which the beer is brewed.
