Heksenbusselke | Dancing Cats - Bergeijk

N 51.3174055 / E 5.3360024

In the book ‘Noord Brabantsche Sagen’ by Peter Norbertus Panken, the Heksenbusselke in Bergeijk is described. According to tradition, in the past 41 cats repeatedly gathered here to turn into witches.

Because of the supposed crossing of energy rays at this location, the Heksenbusselke would be a favourite place for cats. This has led to folk stories about witches who gathered here and disguised themselves as cats to celebrate their witches’ sabbath.

The brave miller Dorus was searching for his missing wife, after the black cats, after an attack on Dorus and his miller’s helper, had left behind a chopped off finger of hers. He searched under the trees, in the pools and here, at the Heksenbusselke.
