The Geuzen path (Geuzenpad) recalls a time when religion played a major role in daily life. North Brabant was predominantly Catholic but Protestantism also had its place. Along this sandy path the minister walked from Gilze to the Reformed church in Chaam. Catholics regularly saw him pass and mockingly called out “There goes that Geuzen again!” The path thus got its name and still tells the story of two faiths that existed here for centuries side by side and opposite each other.
