Fortress Giessen - Giessen

N 51.786065 / E 5.026531

Fort Giessen was built at the end of the 19th century to prevent a direct attack on the Woudrichem fortress. The southern Maasdijk was also protected by this fort.

From April to September, you can experience World War I at Fort Giessen twice a month. Go in search of the powder rooms, discover an educational park across the moat with a trench, feel like a real cannoneer at the cannon or cross the moat with the small foot passenger ferry.
