Fort Kijkduin - Huisduinen

N 52.9507894 / E 4.7219937

Huisduinen is located in one of the most beautiful places along the Dutch coast. In what used to be the 'whaler's village', lies the largest brick fort in the Netherlands: Fort Kijkduin. The fort was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte and part of the Stelling Den Helder.

The fort is located on the dividing line between the North Sea and the Wadden Sea and now houses a museum and the North Sea aquarium. A great place to interrupt your bike ride along the coast. You can visit the fort or discover the surroundings. It is also an ANWB bicycle service point, and you can charge your electric bike. The fort is also a great place to start with a bike ride through the special nature in the area or along the military heritage present. You can park there for free and close to the fort there are excellent accommodation options. In fine weather, enjoy the surroundings on the terrace with panoramic views.
