Serooskerke is a small village built around the large church. Due to the huge breach in the dike, most of this village was also flooded. In Serooskerke, 15 people lost their lives. Near the church is a monument to the memory of this disaster, which you will find behind the church opposite Dorpsplein number 13.

Princess Beatrix visited Serooskerke in the days after the disaster. You can see her in the photo during her visit to the village. Up to her knees in the water, she makes her way across the Dorpsplein.
