In nature reserve Terworm stands the ruin of a real medieval castle: Eyckholt. Holt stands for wood, so probably the castle was surrounded by oak trees. Archives show that the castle was owned by the Van der Lynden family in 1385. In the 18th century, the castle decayed. Now nothing remains but a reminder of a glorious past.
