Start your discovery of the Dwingelderveld at the Natuurmonumenten visitor centre. There is a map, made by artist Erna van Sambeek and volunteers who used wool from the Drenthe heathland sheep. Of course there is information about what Natuurmonumenten does to maintain this wet heathland. You can bring local products, snacks and souvenirs or read about nature in the reading attic. This is also possible on the nice lounge benches where coffee, chocolate milk and a Dwingeldervelderkoek are waiting for you. Take your time for the permanent and changing exhibitions, but don't forget to go outside afterwards... Photo: (c) Natuurmonumenten
