The Drouwenerzand nature reserve lies between Gasselte and Drouwen. The landscape offers a variation of vast heathlands, woods, moss and lichen vegetation and of course a shifting sand area. This makes it a blissful piece of Dutch nature to cycle or walk through. Close to the Drouwenerzand are the dolmens D19 and D20. The area is an important breeding ground for various bird species. And perhaps you will come across the heath sheep!
