Castle Zeist - Zeist

N 52.0789906 / E 5.2346275

Castle Zeist has an impressive history, which has its origins in the House of Orange. The formal construction of Slot Zeist dates from 1677-1686. In this garden, a five-kilometre-long line of sight is laid out. The builder is Willem A. van Nassau-Odijk whose grandfather is Stadholder Maurice of Orange. Many country estates owe their existence to initiatives of wealthy citizens. Slot Zeist, however, is an initiative of a nobleman who, partly because of his family tie with King Stadholder William III, needs another, more rich form of representation. This need has been amply expressed here.
