This former nursery on the edge of Waalre was transformed into a lush butterfly garden in June 2003. The colourful and fragrant flowers attract a wide variety of insects. On a warm day, butterflies, dragonflies, bees and bumblebees come and go constantly. Frogs, salamanders, hedgehogs and various birds can also often be spotted among the greenery.
There is plenty for children to discover. Take a look at the stacked wall with insect hotels, the brick wall with a real hedgehog shelter, the fruit corner full of fragrant blossom, the pond and even a special nectar bar.
The garden is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The butterfly season runs from 1 April to 1 October, when most plants are in bloom.
Would you like to talk to a volunteer? You are most likely to find someone on Tuesday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm, and in summer also on Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Highly recommended if you would like to learn more about the garden.
