Brick workers often lived in workers' houses close to the factory. The houses were built on behalf of the directors, who often lived with their families in the affluent neighbourhoods of Nijmegen. For factory managers, or brick bosses, a spacious detached house was often built next to the factory. This was called the “boss's house”.
Next to the De Ooij factory site stands a stately bosses' house from the 1930s. It was built in the traditional style of the Delft School.
