There are short poems by Belgian writer Geert de Kockere on a number of Veenpalen. He himself calls these poems 'liternature'. The texts contain a nod to man and amusing puns. This post is very appropriately located on the Rioolseweg, a former peat canal.

Where one peated,
one did not only dig,
one also drained.
It was networking
avant la lettre:
via ditches, gullies, canals,
on their way to prosperity,
here and elsewhere.
And when the peat head disappeared.
was hayed the peat.
