Birdwatching point Krassekeet - Oosterend

N 53.099974 / E 4.897353

From birdwatching point Krassekeet on the Wadden Sea dike, you have a royal view over the mudflats and the land behind. This spot, next to the Krassekeet pumping station, is an ideal stop for cyclists and walkers who want to enjoy the open space and the birds that call this place home.

When the water retreats, a world full of food is revealed. Thousands of waders and other mudflat dwellers arrive to forage. You may spot species like grey plover, ringed plover, redshank and little stint. Spoonbills are also seen regularly, and in winter you might hear snow buntings calling along the dike.

Birds come here for peace and food, so it’s important to stay on the dike or at the bench by the pumping station. With binoculars, you’ll spot a surprising amount, even if the birds are further out on the flats.

Whether you visit in spring when migratory birds pass through en masse, or in autumn when flocks return to warmer regions: Krassekeet is always full of life. The view over the mudflats, pools and sky above shifts with the tides and the seasons.
