Het Rammegors is a nature area within the National Park Oosterschelde. It is a marsh area of about 145 hectares in size, where salt marshes, mudflats, sandbanks and creeks alternate. Het Rammegors originated in 1971 when the Schelde Rhine Canal was constructed. A salt marsh was embanked, but that dike was breached again in 2010. Deliberately, because through the influence of the tide nature on the salt marshes could further develop. Through further nature management the original creek system has also returned.
Horses and cattle graze in the area. It is also an important habitat for numerous meadow birds, marsh birds, ducks and even forest birds. During bird migration in spring and autumn you can see large groups of wild geese and colonies of spoonbills here.
