Welcome to the Regional Archaeological Museum, a cultural-historical museum that tells the story of this region. It is a story about the landscape, settlement, local industry, traditions, remarkable people and special events.
This story is mainly told through objects that were made and/or used in the region. The journey begins in the distant past, in prehistoric times, and continues until around the year 1000. After that follows a period from “The story of Alphen” until about 1850, culminating in what is known as “Grandmother’s time”.
The Regional Archaeological Museum is located in Alphen, a village with a rich history. The presentation is largely based on the results of archaeological research carried out by both scientists and other researchers.
