The Andreas Schotel Museum opened in May 2009 and is located in café Schuttershof on Dorpsstraat in Esbeek. It’s part of the “village living room” project that won Esbeek a 2009 livability award. Managed by the Friends of Andreas Schotel Foundation, it preserves the graphic artist’s work and archive for future generations. Schotel (1896–1984), originally from Rotterdam, lived and worked in Esbeek for 60 years. The museum showcases rotating exhibitions of his graphic art, the original “Mari” cleaning machine, and an authentic printing press. A six-meter statue of Schotel stands nearby.
