Airborne Cemetery - Oosterbeek

During the Battle of Arnhem, also known as Operation Market Garden, more than 1750 Allied soldiers were killed. They are buried in the Airborne Cemetery. On the first Sunday after September 17, the day on which the Battle of Arnhem started, they are commemorated with a solemn ceremony in the presence of veterans, family, school children - who lay flowers with the graves - and interested parties.
