At cycle junction 85 you cycle along the river Zijl. The southern part of this river was dug around the year 1200 after the Rhine estuary near Katwijk became blocked. Through this river, the Old Rhine is connected to the Kagerplassen. Today it is a beautiful boating route, which is widely used.
