Between cycle junctions 74 and 05 you cycle past several polder mills. These are so-called ‘wipmolens’. A wipmolen is a specific type of mill in which the entire top structure can be rotated. These mills were probably called ‘wipmolens’ because they scooped or ‘tipped’ excess water out of the polder.

First, on the other side of the N11, you will see the Groenendijksemolen from 1627 of the former polder Nieuw Groenendijk (now polder Groenendijk). A little further on you cycle past the Rooie Wip. This mill was built in 1639 for the drainage of the Gemenewegse polder.

After crossing the bridge over the Oostvaart, you will see on your right the Geremolen or the Blauwe Wip, which has drained the Oost- and Westgeerpolder (now Geer- en Buurtpolder) since 1636.
