11Fountains Hindeloopen - Hindeloopen
The 11Fountains project invited 11 international artists to capture the essence of the Frisian cities in unique fountains, creating a dialogue between past and present. Creator and curator is Anna Tilroe, who conceived this largest sculpture garden in Europe as a project for Leeuwarden, European Capital of Culture 2018.
Chinese artist Shen Yuan created ‘Flora & Fauna’, a fountain representing a tree with colourful birds and flowers. The artwork is inspired by the tree of life in the city's coat of arms, imitated and further elaborated in copper, steel, accoya wood and stone. The fountain symbolises life energy and wisdom.
