Triple mill system Leidschendam (Driemanspolder, now part of the Nieuwe Driemanspolder). At the end of the seventeenth century, large peat lakes had formed in this area due to extensive peat extraction that took place here. In 1668 a request was submitted to drain the southern lakes. Four years later the work was completed. The drainage was carried out using eight mills, with four mills along the Kostverlorenweg and four mills along the so-called Kerklaan.

The fourgang of mills along the Kerklaan soon lost its upper mill near the Stompwijksche Vaart and continued to exist as a triple mill system. The mills along the Kostverlorenweg were replaced by a steam pumping station in 1877 and demolished. Unfortunately, the lower mill of the triple mill system was lost in 1902 when it was struck by lightning and burned down to the ground. The following year a new lower mill was built.

Until 1955 the triple mill system remained responsible for the drainage of the Driemanspolder, until it was replaced by a new electric pumping station that stands a little further along on the left side of the road. Today the triple mill system is used as auxiliary drainage for the Nieuwe Driemanspolder.
