Zouweboezem - Ameide
The Zouweboezem was dug between 1370 and 1373 to collect excess water from the polders in the Vijfheerenlanden. The Zouwe or Oude Zederik runs through it. Because of the presence of the many water and marshy area, many bird species forage, rest and breed here and there is also special flora. Nearly 300 hectares of the Zouweboezem have been designated a Natura 2000 area.
