Schoteroog was a municipal landfill until 1998. After that, Afvalzorg cleaned up the area and safely transformed it into a beautiful nature and recreation area. In addition, the landfill gas in the area is cleaned and upgraded to green gas for households. From the viewpoint you have a wide view over the rolling grass hills of Schoteroog, the water of the Mooi Nel and the marinas. Did you know that Schoteroog is also called Teletubbieland?
